Rotary
Telephones Requiring Subsets The
first generation rotary desk telephones evolved from their non-dial
counterparts. As a result, early
rotary telephones were equipped with a separate
wall-mounted ringer box called a 'subset' which consists of the
telephone coil, other electronics and the ringer.
Interestingly, because people often retained only the telephone,
original subsets are becoming more scarce than the telephones
themselves!
Due to the scarcity of the original subsets,
LoweTechPhones has designed and built its own replacement
subset box containing all the electronics to make these old
treasures work properly. Click here for a Quick
Quote.
Need a subset for your collectible
telephone? LoweTechPhones will add a subset your telephone
to make it fully functional, or we will ship our
829 Subset Kit with instructions for installing
it yourself. See our services page for
more details.
Currently, rotary telephones requiring subsets are
quite popular and are bringing top dollar. Metal
subsets being repaired by LoweTechPhones that need paint are
professionally prepared and treated with a durable
powdercoat finish. We try to keep subsets original, but
occasionally we must replace old electronics with later
versions to assure proper operation. Click here for a Quick
